Why You Can Trust Epic Dental's Products

Why You Can Trust Epic Dental's Products

Posted by Donald Bailey on Jan 22nd 2021

There are hundreds of dental hygiene products on the market today. Each one claiming they are better than the next. With all that bickering, it can be extremely difficult to make clear choices about which products best fit your needs.

Let’s be honest. When was the last time you thought about how effective the toothpaste you buy actually is? We’re going to guess it was a long time ago, if ever at all. Most people just pick the cheapest kind they can find on the grocery store shelf.

If you take that same kind of attitude toward buying any of your dental hygiene products, we don’t blame you. They’re all the same right? Wrong!

The truth of the matter is that some products actually do work better than others. Not all dental hygiene products are the same. If you were to see the actual manufacturing or research practices that many of the big name dental companies use, you would be shocked to see how untrustworthy they really are.

We’re not here to bring up dirt on other brands. We’re here to be as transparent as possible so that you can make the best decisions for you and your family. With that in mind, here’s why you can trust Epic Dental with your dental health care.

Research, Research, Research

We’ve discovered your dentist’s best kept secret: xylitol. Xylitol is an all-natural sugar substitute that helps eliminate cavity-causing bacteria. Why did we decide to make our entire product line xylitol based you may ask?

We compared xylitol to other available options and xylitol was head over heals better than anything else. Here’s just a small portion of what we found.

Research performed by numerous dental professionals, revealed that xylitol works because it can reduce cavity-causing bacteria and aid in the remineralization process by increasing saliva production.

Let’s break that down.

Cavity-causing bacteria consume sugar and simple carbohydrates and produce acid. That acid breaks down your teeth over time, eventually resulting in cavities. Xylitol is an all-natural sugar alcohol that comes from birch trees and corn, and can also be found in trace amounts in fruit and our own bodies.

Xylitol looks and tastes like sugar, but it has five carbon atoms instead of six like typical table sugar. This makes xylitol in-digestible by cavity causing bacteria. When they eat xylitol instead of sugar, they starve and eventually die. So xylitol doesn’t treat cavities, it helps prevent them. No more disappointing dentist visits!

You can also help repair your teeth by using xylitol, which increases saliva flow. Saliva remineralizes our teeth, which means it re-deposits calcium and phosphate onto damaged teeth. So xylitol has been found to reduce the number of cavity-causing bacteria in your mouth while repairing your teeth. What other dental product can claim that?

Facts: They Speak for Themselves

Here is one fact that you should remember even if you remember nothing else: Our products have more xylitol in them than any other brand. We have more xylitol in our gum than any of the other big brand name companies that are probably floating around your bag right now.

And when we say “more xylitol,” we mean it. Epic Gum has 45% more xylitol than the average 100% xylitol-sweetened brands. That’s right, we have nearly double the xylitol as any other product on the market. (We really love xylitol!)

Although many of the leading brands contain .72 grams of xylitol or less per piece, they just don’t match up to our 1.06 grams per piece.

Why pack each piece of Epic Gum with so much xylitol? Because we understand the science, and research tells us that more xylitol equals more dental benefits. It’s that simple.

Our Quality Processes

At Epic, we choose to extract our xylitol from non-gmo corn that hasn’t been contaminated with things like chemical fertilizers or pesticides. There are many myths that the plant source of xylitol impacts the end product (i.e., corn vs. birch), but science has repeatedly shown there’s no molecular difference in the harvested end product with regards to its source. None.

Once the corn is harvested and brought to our factory, we take every possible precaution to ensure that the extraction process does not water down or contaminate the xylitol. We start by using a natural acid solution to separate the xylan syrups from the cobs, then ion-exchangers are used to purify and decontaminate the xylan syrups and isolate the d-xylose.

Once the d-xylose (the natural precursor to xylitol) is extracted from the corn, we filter it 3 times to ensure that it is as pure as possible. After the filtration process we use a centrifuge to crystallize the xylitol into any grain size we want.

We want to be transparent with our customers about exactly how their products get made. That’s why we share this information up front instead of asking you to close your eyes and just trust what you’re putting in your body.

We’re Your Money Saver

More xylitol per piece is a big deal, and not just because it helps your teeth that much better. It saves you money too.

Dentists recommend 6 grams of xylitol per day. Because we’re a little obsessed with not wasting money, we broke down what those 6 grams would cost you per day both with Epic Gum and the other brands.

If you were to get those 6 grams of xylitol just from leading-brand chewing gum, you would end up spending $3.50 per day! With Epic Gum, you would only end up paying $0.56 per day. That’s an extra gallon of gas or a full taco on taco Tuesday just from chewing Epic Gum over the other guys. Check out the full comparison to the other brands here.

We Don’t Want You to Take Our Word for It

After doing all that research and deciding to create xylitol products that can help you save money on dental bills, we decided to become one of the leading providers of innovative dental care products. But if it sounds like we’re bragging, listen to what other people have to say about it.

In one recent case study performed at a leading dental school, a professor gave blind samples of Epic Xylitol Gum and another leading brand to all 63 of his students. Sixty-one out of those 63 students stated that they prefered Epic Gum over the other brand. That’s 97 percent of the class! (Sounds like an A+ to us!)

Of course you expect us to say that our products are awesome. In fact that might sound a little weird if we didn’t. But we aren’t the only ones who think so.

"I've been using a Xylitol toothpaste for a few years now. The first thing I noticed was during my dental visits. When I had my teeth cleaned, the technician did not have to scrape the plaque from my teeth as much as in the past. I have gone to the dentist numerous times in the past couple years with the same positive results. Epic seems to clean my teeth in the same fashion." - Bob

We are always trilled when people find the dental benefits they’re looking for with Epic. But our commitment to quality extends beyond our products themselves. We believe quality customer services is just as important.
